Music - At Skyview Elementary during their music specials time, students engage in a variety of activities that align with national music standards, fostering both creativity and musicianship. They explore rhythm and melody through singing, playing instruments, and movement, which helps them understand and appreciate diverse musical cultures. Students also participate in improvisation and composition exercises, encouraging them to express their own musical ideas. By integrating listening and analysis of different music styles, we aim to develop critical listening skills and a lifelong love for music.

Art - Elementary art classes at Skyview School of STEM are crafted to align with the Colorado State Standards, providing a comprehensive exploration of art through the lens of various artists and cultural perspectives. These classes are designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking by exposing students to a diverse range of artistic styles and techniques.

In addition to exploring different artists, the art curriculum allows students to experiment with a wide variety of media and mediums, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and clay. This hands-on experience not only enhances students' technical skills but also encourages them to discover their unique artistic voices. By engaging in projects that require problem-solving and innovation, students develop their ability to think critically and creatively. In Skyview's art room everyone is an artist and is encouraged to make their own artistic choices.

Physical Education - Elementary Physical Education (PE) in Colorado for kindergarten through fifth grade is designed to foster the development of physical skills, promote health-related fitness, and nurture a lifelong appreciation for physical activity. According to the Colorado State Standards, the PE curriculum emphasizes the acquisition of fundamental motor skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, and catching, which are crucial for participating in a variety of sports and physical activities. These standards also highlight the importance of safe and responsible personal and social behaviors, ensuring students understand the value of teamwork, cooperation, and respect for others. By engaging in diverse activities, students enhance their physical competence and confidence, setting a strong foundation for active and healthy lifestyles.

In addition to physical skill development, PE in Colorado's elementary schools plays a significant role in cultivating important character traits. The curriculum is designed to encourage attributes such as perseverance, self-discipline, and integrity. Through structured and cooperative games, students learn to set goals, persist in overcoming challenges, and celebrate both individual and team achievements. The emphasis on fair play and respect helps students develop empathy and ethical decision-making skills. These character-building experiences in PE are essential for preparing students to be well-rounded individuals.
